Trump Mobile has announced that it will begin shipping its first smartphone, the T1 Phone, this week after months of delays and growing anticipation among customers.

The company confirmed that customers who placed preorders will start receiving delivery updates soon, with shipments expected to roll out over the coming weeks. Trump Mobile CEO Pat O’Brien told USA Today that buyers will receive email notifications with detailed shipping information as fulfillment begins.

According to the company, demand for the device has been significantly higher than expected. O’Brien described consumer interest in the T1 Phone as “incredibly high” and said the firm is working to ensure all preorders are completed within the next few weeks.

Although Trump Mobile has not disclosed the total number of orders received, it said it is “incredibly pleased” with the response to both the smartphone and its associated mobile service.

On manufacturing, the company stated that early batches of the T1 Phone are being assembled in the United States, with previous reports suggesting final assembly takes place in Miami. Trump Mobile also indicated long-term plans to rely primarily on US-manufactured components.

The T1 Phone will launch at a promotional price of $499, placing it in a highly competitive segment of the global smartphone market alongside established brands such as Samsung and Apple.

Industry observers say the real test for the device will be its performance, specifications and user experience once it reaches consumers, as the smartphone market remains highly saturated and dominated by established global manufacturers.

As shipping begins, more details about the phone’s features and capabilities are expected to emerge from early users and reviewers in the coming weeks.
